Thanks for using OpenProtein ("we," "us," "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of our protein design platform, tools, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 16 years old to use OpenProtein. You're responsible for safeguarding your account and for any activity under it. If you sign up on behalf of a research institution or organization, you represent you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
Academic institutions and individual researchers may use OpenProtein under our free tier for non-commercial research and educational purposes. We may ask for reasonable proof of academic affiliation and reserve the right to review usage patterns to prevent abuse.
Commercial use, including but not limited to drug discovery, biotechnology development, or for-profit research, may require a commercial license. Contact us at commercial@openprotein.dev to discuss licensing options.
You retain full ownership and intellectual property rights to your protein designs, sequences, and research data. We do not claim ownership of your scientific work. You grant us permission to process your data solely to provide the Service and improve our algorithms.
The Service, our algorithms, software, trademarks, and brand are owned by OpenProtein or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service while these Terms are in effect.
We welcome feedback and contributions to improve protein design tools. If you send ideas, suggestions, or code contributions, you grant us a free, irrevocable license to use them without restriction or compensation.
OpenProtein integrates with services like Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), and scientific databases you may connect (e.g., PDB, UniProt). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their respective services.
While we strive for accuracy, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties. Protein design predictions and recommendations are computational estimates. Always validate results through appropriate experimental methods before use in critical applications.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, research data, or research time. This includes damages from failed protein designs or computational predictions.
You agree to comply with applicable export control laws. Some protein engineering applications may be subject to government regulations. You're responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant biosafety and export control requirements.
You may stop using the Service at any time and export your data. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we believe it's necessary to protect the Service or users. Upon termination, you retain rights to your research data.
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new date above and notify active users of material changes. Continued use means you accept the changes.
